EXPERIENTIAL
ull disclosure: I’m a ;ilm guy. I love the movies. Going
to the movies. Talking about movies—what makes
them work, cinematic rhythm, themes, performance,
symbolism, editing, production design, music. All the
stuff that ;ilm dorks get excited about. I take a week of
vacation every year to attend the Dallas International Film Festival—it’s one of my favorite things on the planet.
So, naturally, when The Meeting Professional Editor in Chief
Rich Luna asked if I would be interested in covering MPI’s
Experiential Event Series at TIFF—which allows meeting
professionals to earn 20 hours of education credit through on-the-ground learning opportunities—I jumped (really, I literally
jumped) at the chance. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to ;ind
out what makes it all happen and to be a part of the excitement
of this big, sprawling event.
I had no idea how big.
The red carpet was rolled out for MPI’s Experiential
Event Series at the 41st Toronto International Film
Festival, in partnership with Business Events Toronto.

BEHIND
T H ESILVER SCREEN
They all pale in comparison to
the citywide juggernaut that is
the Toronto International Film
Festival®. It’s the largest public
;ilm festival in the world, and 15
MPI members got an exclusive be-hind-the-scenes look at what makes
TIFF tick. And I was lucky enough
to be there for the show.
Cannes. Sundance.
Tribeca.
