One of the remarkable traits
Florida has is its way of reinventing itself while keeping
the cornerstones that make
it a planner favorite.
If you do business, then chances are you’ve done business in Florida. In the ;irst three quarters of 2015, Florida
welcomed 79. 1 million visitors. In 2014,
Florida had a record of 98.5 million visitors
with more than 4 million coming to the
state for business purposes.
One of the remarkable traits Florida
has is its way of reinventing itself while
keeping the cornerstones that make it a
planner favorite: ease of air travel, weather,
hospitality and tons of meeting space
options. Currently, Florida has 12 million
square feet of meeting space, 87 percent of
the counties in Florida have meeting space
and the state boasts six convention centers. Meetings are big business in Florida,
with an additional 141,362 square feet of
meeting space under construction and 1. 2
million square feet in the planning stages.
VISIT FLORIDA, the state’s of;icial
marketing corporation, acknowledges that
with meeting space in 1,696 Florida hotels,
the options can be overwhelming. In an
effort to “up your Florida game,” VISIT
FLORIDA produces Florida Encounter,
an appointment trade show for quali;ied
meeting planners and Florida suppliers.
This three-day conference includes educational sessions, pre-scheduled appointments and highlights a different Florida
destination every year. This year, Florida
Encounter is December 2-5, 2016, at the
Omni ChampionsGate in Kissimmee. In
addition, VISIT FLORIDA offers Cover Your
Event Insurance, City Wide and Minority
Grants and hosts in-market VIP (Very
Important Planner) events in New York,
Chicago, Boston, D.C. and Atlanta.
Whether you are planning a team-building beach getaway for 10 stakeholders or a
conference for 10,000 delegates and anything in between, Florida welcomes you!
